2008
Painting by Valery Koroshilov
Oil on canvas, 100 x 100 cm
My method could be described as the close-focus vision based on precise observation, great patience and care. I aim at the elegance and grace, and try to handle the paintwork with utmost subtlety. I believe the context of a painting only matters if it’s inspired by the poetic intuition, and therefore, it is addressed to the poetic perception.
The focus of this picture is a dramatic juxtaposition of a heavy monumental red vase and a light and dynamic figure of the shiny brass tiger. All five objects and their sharp shadows create a tangible and suggestive atmosphere challenging the ‘stillness’ of this Still Life
Composition, I is a part of a triptych showing, one at a time, fragments of the artist’s Studio full with my favourite shapes, colours textures, and reflections
